Wind farms account for around one quarter of total UK generation. The low cost power onshore wind can produce is critical to lowering consumer bills and reducing the UK’s reliance on energy imports. Additionally, in remote locations in which onshore wind farms are located they are an important source of employment.
Averon Group has owned and operated onshore wind since 2017, starting with the acquisition of a two-turbine site in Scotland. Further acquisitions of operational sites followed growing our division to seven sites with a combined capacity of 115MW.

The Averon Group entered into a joint venture with Belltown Power in 2020 to establish a renewable energy development business focused initially on onshore wind projects across the UK. Building on the success of the partnership, its activities were expanded in 2021 to include large-scale solar developments.
The collaboration combines Belltown Power's renewable energy development expertise with the Averon Group's strategic oversight, governance and long-term capital support. Together, the business has established a substantial pipeline of renewable energy projects across the UK.
Initially targeting approximately 400MW of onshore wind capacity, the development pipeline has expanded to more than 1GW across 15 sites. Many of these projects have reached advanced stages of development, including the submission of planning applications, demonstrating the business's capability to progress complex infrastructure projects through the development process.
The business focuses on identifying suitable sites, securing land rights, obtaining planning consent, developing grid connections and managing the technical and commercial aspects of project development. Once projects have reached key development milestones, they may be retained for further development or transferred for construction and long-term operation, enabling capital to be recycled into the next generation of renewable energy projects.
The Belltown partnership demonstrates the Averon Group's capability to originate, develop and scale renewable energy businesses that support the UK's transition to a lower-carbon economy while creating sustainable long-term commercial value through active development and disciplined project execution.
