The Averon Group's solar business comprises a diversified portfolio of ground-mounted generation projects together with residential and commercial rooftop installations in the UK and Italy. Certain projects continue to benefit from historic government support regimes established to encourage the deployment of renewable energy.
Solar generation has become one of the most cost-effective sources of electricity globally and is a key component of the transition to a lower-carbon energy system. In the UK, solar power is now an economically competitive source of electricity without subsidy in many applications, reflecting continuing improvements in technology, efficiency and installation costs.
The scalability of photovoltaic technology enables its deployment across a wide range of applications, from residential rooftops and commercial premises to large-scale ground-mounted installations, allowing the Group to participate in a broad range of renewable energy opportunities.
The continued advancement of solar technology, together with improvements in battery storage, is supporting wider adoption of renewable electricity and increasing the flexibility and resilience of electricity networks.
The Averon Group has owned, developed and operated solar generation businesses since 2013. Through active asset management, ongoing optimisation and disciplined operational oversight, the Group continues to enhance the long-term performance of its solar business while supporting the transition to a more sustainable energy system.
The long-term demand for renewable electricity, together with the essential nature of solar generation within the UK's energy infrastructure, provides a strong foundation for the continued development of the Group's solar business.
The Averon Group has played a leading role in the development of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure, including the West Burton Project, a 600MW ready-to-build solar development in the UK. The project demonstrates the Group's capability to originate, develop and progress major renewable energy projects through each stage of the development lifecycle.
A significant milestone was the award of a Contracts for Difference (CfD) by Ofgem, making West Burton the largest solar project to secure a CfD at the time*. The CfD provides long-term revenue certainty through a fixed pricing mechanism, strengthening the commercial resilience of the project while supporting the UK's transition to secure, low-carbon electricity generation.
The West Burton Project illustrates the Group's disciplined approach to renewable energy development. By identifying opportunities, securing planning and regulatory approvals, managing technical development and preparing projects for construction, the Group creates high-quality infrastructure businesses capable of delivering long-term commercial and environmental benefits.
The project reflects the Averon Group's commitment to developing strategically important energy infrastructure that supports the UK's decarbonisation objectives while creating sustainable long-term value through active development, effective project management and responsible stewardship.
